Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment
Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) is a specialized form of auricular (ear) acupuncture designed to help reduce the body’s sensitivity to specific allergies and intolerances. This gentle technique uses a small (3mm) needle that is strategically placed in the ear and left in place for 3 to 4 weeks to support the body’s natural immune response. SAAT is commonly used for Alpha-gal syndrome, food allergies, environmental allergies, and even pet allergies with the goal of helping patients experience long-term symptom relief and improved quality of life.

I am a certified SAAT practitioner and received specialized training directly from Nader Soliman, the developer of the Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment method.

The Treatment is $350 and includes: initial consultation and muscle testing, treatment for up to 6 allergens, placement and removal of semi-permanent needles, and follow-up testing. If a needle falls out during the 3-week period, we’ll replace it once at no charge.

The Process
The first step of the process is identifying allergens through muscle strength testing.
We screen all patients for sensitivities to metals and adhesives prior to needle insertion. If a patient has a known or suspected allergy to either, we ask that they call the office before booking to discuss alternative treatment options (740-821-2118). We also assess for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), a condition in which mast cells release excessive inflammatory chemicals, causing the body to overreact to triggers such as foods, environmental allergens, stress, medications, or fragrances. This heightened immune response can intensify allergy symptoms and contribute to issues such as hives, itching, digestive discomfort, headaches, congestion, flushing, and chronic inflammation. If testing indicates MCAS, it is treated concurrently with other identified allergens.

The next step is to locate the area on the ear that corresponds to the specific allergen being treated (see image on the left above). This area is then marked and a 3mm needle is inserted into the ear (as shown in the image on the right). For best results, all identified allergens should be avoided during the treatment period.

After 3–4 weeks, patients return to have the needle(s) removed and muscle strength testing is repeated to assess response. Next steps are determined at that time. For Alpha-gal and food allergies, most patients are instructed to try a small amount of the allergen at bedtime, and if no reaction occurs overnight, they may gradually reintroduce it into their diet.
SAAT FAQ'S
Most patients feel only a quick pinch or mild pressure as the needle goes in. The needles are very thin, and any discomfort is usually brief and minimal.
Do the needles hurt going in?
Most patients can sleep on their side comfortably with the needles in place, though some mild pressure or awareness may be felt for the first few days.
Will I be able to sleep on my side?
There is a possibility of minor bruising or bleeding near the insertion site. Some patients may also experience temporary heightened symptoms during the first week of treatment, such as a mild sore throat or slight dizziness.

Please avoid cleaning your ear on the day of your appointment, as this may interfere with treatment effectiveness.
What are the after care instructions?
You should avoid getting the treated ear wet during treatment (an ear cover will be provided for use in the shower). Any SAAT needles must also be removed prior to an MRI scan. If you notice any signs of infection at the needle site, remove the needle and contact our office.
What is the success rate of SAAT?
A 2021 study published in the Medical Acupuncture found that 96% of patients with alpha-gal who received SAAT reported long-term improvement or remission of symptoms.
